In Singapore, we have events dedicated to the arts, fashion, food and shopping. Now, we have #GivingWeek – a national movement dedicated to harnessing the collective power of a unique blend of partners – businesses, non-profits, families and individuals – to encourage philanthropy, transform how people view, discuss and participate in the giving season, and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Organised by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) and occurring this year from 1 – 7 December, #GivingWeek will kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving the local communities, to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support and to be a game changer.
Spurred by the success of #GivingTuesdaySG, #GivingWeek will be launched annually after Thanksgiving (US), BlackFridays, and CyberMonday, and celebrates International Volunteer Day on 5 December by paying special tribute to people’s valuable contributions to society.
To date, #GivingWeek has seen interest from 60 companies (and counting), 48 Food & Beverage outlets and 29 influencers, it goes without saying Shiok! is part of #GivingWeek!
