SG50: SGMOJI

Resourcefulness, creativity, innovation, a never-say-die attitude – these are the ingredients to Singapore’s success in transforming from a fishing village to a financial powerhouse in just 50 years. At the heart of championing this spirit; is its people.

In celebration of National Day and the grand festivities that will mark the nation’s jubilee year, BBDO Singapore, an international award-winning agency from Singapore, celebrates its host nation’s 50th with an initiative that celebrates Singaporeans and our unique unifying identifier; Singlish:

Introducing SGMOJI, a guide on how to use the universal language of Emojis; to expertly navigate through Singapore’s unofficial national language and local expressions in this smartphone messaging-obsessed time (Read: Whatsapp, SnapChat, LINE, iMessaging).

Inspired by the simple insight of Singaporeans’ efficiencies in everyday communications through abbreviations and acronyms (CTE – Central Expressway, NP – No problem, CMI – Cannot Make It), SGMOJI encourages Singaporeans to indulge in their favorite local expressions and exclamations; while inviting visitors to not be “blur-like-sotong” and join in the “talk-cock” banter!
